Abdul Ghafoor, popularly known as “Khulfi Ghafoor” of Jimmy Khulfi fame had a career spanning 50 years from the mid-1960s to 2011 operating his business from the front gates of St Paul’s and St Joseph’s, selling delicious treats from cut seasonal fruits, candy and flavored crushed ice to lakhs of students over the years. This is a story of a principled, generous, pious and hardworking family man. Ghafoor passed away on December 26, 2015, at the age of 70. For me, Uday, an alumnus of St. Paul’s, it was my honor to record this story as narrated by Farida, Ghafoor’s fourth child among seven, now a schoolteacher, remembering her hero, her dear father.
